Preparing for Floods as a Business Owner

When it comes to planning for floods, it is important for business owners to not cut corners and be sure all your bases are covered. Some of the most important things to do are:
1. Use FEMA's Flood Map to understand the historical flooding rates in your area.
2. Designate an offsite place that is secure enough to store copies documents.
3. Train employees on the official emergency operation procedure so that everyone knows their role is.
4. Mark evacuation routes using eye-catching material.
5. Look into the addition of flood insurance to your policy, as most do not include it by default.
6. Create an office emergency kit and encourage coworkers to do the same.
7. Move electronics to higher areas if flooding is likely.
